Knitting and Fucking. Mostly knitting, unfortunately.

What I learnt on Ravelry today, or this week-ish… #3

May 7th, 2008 · 4 Comments

There is an utterly bitching thread here, where people have posted videos of their knitting techniques. I had no idea there were so many different methods, and how fucking FAST people can knit.

My nan taught me to knit yeeeeears ago, and until a few months ago I knitted like her, in a really slow, English throwing style where I pretty much dropped the yarn, walked out of the room, made a coffee and read the newspaper between stitches. I mostly knit continental know, which speeds up stocking stitch a helluva lot but I’m still nowhere as fast as some of those videos. Yet my nan used to turn out huge fair isle and aran jumpers and even dresses at a rate of knots. It would be cool if some of the knitting women in my family were still alive or not crazy twats so I could ask them questions…

All ten of my nails are now buffed to perfection, you’ll be pleased to hear. I’m currently suffering with toothache, so I’ve allowed myself to skip my main meals today and replace them with cold beer and chocolate. Do you think, for cosmetic purposes, one could buff one’s own teeth?

The first post of yours that I read was the one where you talked about your one buffed fingernail. I was instantly intrigued. And now I’m back. And while I’m certainly happy for your nails’widespread prosperity, I admit to being kid of sad that you’re not the same, one-buffed-finger blogger you were when we first met.

It’s okay.
It’s all good.
I can roll with it.

Oh my god, you made me do a real LOL!

What can I say, people move on, things change, but deep down I’m still the same. I hope you can still fondly remember the good times we had, and how special they were. One day we’ll look back at this and laugh…

Wow, what a great thread. I’ve looked at a few and don’t think I knit like any of them so far.

BTW, we are having our Borders Cheshire Oaks knitting night on Tuesday if you fancy it. 6.30pm onwards.

OMG, I can’t believe I haven’t read your blog before now.
I totally added you to my blogroll. And I’m having a hard time not writing this in LSG-isms.
